ebook

The Adobe Reader format of this title is not suitable for use on the Pocket PC or Palm OS versions of Adobe Reader This story will fascinate readers of historical adventure and fantasy, and those who like a good yarn in any genre. The setting for the saga of The Earthshaker is ancient France and Ireland, in an age when the Celts rule the north of Europe. The story is inspired by the legend of Lowry Maon, the child mute who regains his voice after a silence of more than ten years and goes on to become a great leader. But the violence and tragedy which lie at the heart of his condition affect him for years afterwards, even as his warrior exploits earn him the name Earthshaker. Because of uncertainty as to Lowry’s bloodline, the death of his only relative spurs him to seek out those who may be able to enlighten him. He embarks on a quest for answers. With his two faithful aides, Prenn and Tanny, he treks from Gaul to Ierne (Ireland) to seek out his origins. But their visit to the great Fair of Tara, held near the ancient seat of the High Kings of Ierne, sparks off violence and tragedy. Lowry and his friends are drawn into mortal danger in a land far from home. They become the quarry of a corrupt power which will stop at nothing to achieve its ends by wiping Lowry from the face of the earth. Far from Gaul, he and his friends are forced to go on the run among a people they do not know. Miria, a young woman who knows exactly what she wants, is one of the few who will help. Against the wishes of her people, she risks everything to save the one that she feels will become her soulmate. The terror mounts until the final awful confrontation between Lowry and the one who has affected his life ever since he was a child. There ensues a cataclysmic finale in which the invasion of Ierne by the dark Gauls brings the old order crashing down in Ierne. The Earthshaker runs to 185,000 words (1366 kb.)
